How to Balance Board Exams and JEE

by Siddharth Mehta Guidance

Juggling Class 12 Boards and JEE preparation is perhaps the biggest challenge for an Indian science student. While Boards require detailed descriptive answers, JEE demands speed and objective problem-solving. Here is how you can master both.

Synergy is Key

Remember, the syllabus is largely the same. When you study a chapter for JEE, ensure you also read the NCERT thoroughly. NCERT is the foundation for both Boards and JEE Main.

Divide Your Week

Dedicate your weekdays (Monday-Friday) to JEE-level problem solving and concepts. Use your weekends (Saturday-Sunday) to practice previous year Board papers and improve your answer writing speed.

Don’t Ignore Language Subjects

Students often ignore English or optional subjects until the last week. This can pull down your overall Board percentage. Dedicate 2 hours every Sunday to these subjects to keep them on track.

Mock Tests

Give mock tests for both formats. Understanding the shift in mindset required to move from a subjective paper to an objective one is a skill you must develop.
